The comprehensive analysis of the economic contributions of urban and community forestry was completed across the Northeast-Midwest region which includes 20 states and Washington, D.C. Results from the modeling suggest that in 2018, urban forestry activities in Ohio directly contributed $1.9 billion in industry output by supporting 24,717 full- and part-time jobs in various businesses and activities. Including direct, indirect, and induced effects, urban forestry had a total contribution of $3.1 billion in industry output to the state economy, employing 33,214 people with a payroll of about $1.3 billion. The reports and factsheets can all be found on the Northeast-Midwest State Foresters Alliance (NMSFA) website, www.nmsfa.org. Please join the Ohio Chapter ISA and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in promoting and communicating these important figures to community leaders, decision makers, and the general public.
