Biography:

Erin Thompson is the Urban Forester for the City of Louisville, KY and heads the Division of Community Forestry. She is responsible for the health and maintenance of the city’s public right of way trees and leading the community to maintain and increase its current tree population. Erin received a B.S. in Forestry from the University of Kentucky’s Department of Agriculture, is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, TRAQ qualified, and a 2014 graduate of the Society of Municipal Forestry’s Municipal Forestry Institute. Erin has been active in multiple levels of Forestry, from woodland restoration to urban arboriculture practices, for over ten years. Her love for trees was fostered on the tree lined streets adjacent to a national recreational area outside Atlanta, GA where she grew up. Believing that everyone deserves to live in an environment where trees provide a multitude of benefits, from health to imagination, Erin is proud to assist Louisville in increasing its tree canopy coverage and give all Louisvillians the ideal community to live and prosper in. As the states SMA liaison, Erin is excited to now expand her duties and offer urban forestry resources and knowledge to all Kentuckians.
